Confessions of Ahmed M Elmoghir (A member of Muslim brotherhood) about Rabaa Sit-in and his talking with DR. Essam al-Arian there
When I had good relations with the leadership of Muslim Brotherhood before the coup, I was in the operating room, which was running the sit-in (it was the actual operating room, not the one next to the mosque). The leaders there ensured that this time was different, because we prepared to escalate to the military level if necessary and what happened in the FIFTIES would not be repeated again. In the day of the coup statement, there was an extreme anger, I started to think to leave Egypt and start my media work freely abroad (I have a specific media job), I told DR. Essam al-Arian about my idea and I told him that I can try to go to Gaza or Libya and work from there.
He liked the idea, and told me that it’s better for me to go to a place like Matrouh or Sinai, and start making videos their message is that peaceful approach has ended, and there must be military escalation against the Army, and he told me clearly that this could be a paper for the negotiations for different reasons.
I didn’t do that, because I was still convinced at that time with the peaceful approach, and I thought that if there were any negotiations that could restore the previous situation, they would be better than escalation (they told me they were ready for escalation, but that was just a lie).
I wrote these words because everyone must know this history.
